We begin snowmaking as soon as the temperatures permit after December 1. Most years we aim to be open Mid-December. The season typically ends Mid-March.

Your first stop will be at the Ticket Trailers or Kiosks located in the drop off parking lot. We will scan the barcode in your confirmation email. We can scan from your smartphone or a printed copy of the barcode. All purchases including lift tickets, rental equipment, and lessons will be redeemed at the Ticket Trailers and/or Kiosks.
If you are taking a lesson, plan to arrive at least an hour prior to your lesson time, especially if renting equipment. Your first stop will be at the Ticket Booths located in the drop off parking lot. We will scan the bar code in your confirmation email. We can scan from your phone or a printed copy of the bar code.
Appropriate winter attire will ensure your experience is comfortable and safe. Dress in warm layers that can be removed if necessary – it’s easier to cool off than warm up. Waterproof snow pants, jackets, waterproof gloves, hat and neck warmers and sunglasses or goggles to protect from sun and glare. Bring your helmet!
Helmets are not required by New York State law but we strongly recommend the use of a helmet. If you are renting equipment from Thunder Ridge, helmets are NOT included in our rentals. Our retail shop offers a variety of helmets to purchase.
We do NOT rent clothing or goggles, but we do have a retail shop on site where you can purchase snow pants, gloves, helmets, goggles, sunglasses, neck warmers, sock and accessories.
If you would like to assist your child, you will need to purchase a lift ticket and have proper equipment to be on the slopes. All individuals on the snow must have a lift ticket. Uphill traffic is not permitted at Thunder Ridge.
No one is too young to ski or snowboard. However, the smallest Ski Boot Rental we offer is a toddler size 6 and smallest Snowboard Boot Rental is a toddler size 7. If you would like your little one to take a lesson, our lessons for children begin at the age of 4.
Lessons are non-refundable but can be rescheduled if you call by end of day (5pm) 2 days prior to the scheduled lesson date. Cancellations will not be accommodated 1 day prior to the lesson date or the day of the lesson. For example: A Saturday lesson would need to be reschedued by 5 pm Thursday; A Sunday lesson would need to be rescheduled by 5 pm Friday. If you do not have a new date in mind, a credit will be put on your account for use at later date. All credits on account must be used by the end of the season or forfeited.
Our ski area has lockers available for seasonal rentals. The lockers are located on the main floor of the lodge. In addition, we have several storage cubbies located on the upper level of the lodge. We do have a small bank of lockers for daily use on a first come, first serve basis.
Dogs are NOT permitted at the mountain. Service animals specifically trained to aid a person with a disability are welcome. Animals whose sole purpose is to provide emotional support, well-being, or companionship are NOT permitted.
No, sleds and other snow play toys are not allowed anywhere on the snow for safety reasons. We do NOT offer snow tubing.
The MTA has discontinued all Get A Way packages. There is no longer a combination train and ski ticket.
Coming from NYC or Long Island? You can ride the Metro-North Train from NYC and NY Metro to the Patterson, NY or Southeast, NY train stations and grab a taxi for a short ride to the mountain. We’re only one mile from the Patterson train station and 15 mins from the Southeast stations, so you can enjoy a great day on the snow in no time! Purchase your lift tickets and rental equipment on-line prior to your trip. We do not rent helmets but helmets are available for purchase in our ski shop. Want to take a lesson? They are available throughout the day and should be purchased on-line prior to your arrival.
